Grace Jewell - Softball Pitching

A dominant force in the circle and a clutch performer under pressure, this standout pitcher concluded her UCF career in 2024 as one of the program’s most reliable arms. Leaving her mark on the record books, she finished her collegiate journey ranked sixth all-time in career saves (4) and tied for 10th in career shutouts (6).

Career Highlights & Honors

  • NFCA All-Region Second Team (2023)

  • First no-hitter against a ranked opponent in program history (vs. No. 22 Arizona State, 2023)

  • AAC Pitcher of the Week (April 2023)

  • Finished with a career .180 batting average-against in 2023, the 8th best single-season mark in UCF history

Senior Season (2024)

In her final season, she served as a versatile veteran leader, making 21 appearances and recording a 3.75 ERA over 37.1 innings. She proved to be a "big game" specialist, throwing scoreless frames against top-tier programs including No. 23 Oregon, No. 2 Texas, and No. 2 Oklahoma. Her ability to strand runners was a season hallmark, notably escaping bases-loaded jams against both San Diego and Kansas. She also led a gritty relief effort to secure a comeback win over Texas Tech.

Junior Season (2023)

Her junior year was one for the history books. Earning All-Region honors, she posted career bests in nearly every category, including ERA (2.28), innings pitched (122.2), and strikeouts (72). She led the conference and ranked 38th nationally in hits allowed per seven innings (4.57).

The season's crowning achievement came on March 17, when she tossed the 21st no-hitter in UCF history against No. 22 Arizona State—the first time a Knights pitcher ever no-hit a nationally ranked program. During this stretch, she maintained a 19-inning scoreless streak and threw back-to-back complete-game shutouts.

Early Career & Versatility

After appearing in seven games as a freshman, she broke through as a sophomore in 2022, earning her first career shutout against DePaul. She also showcased rare versatility on the offensive side, hitting a pinch-hit grand slam in just her second career at-bat.

Throughout four years in Orlando, she evolved from a relief prospect into a decorated starter and record-setting closer, defined by her composure in the circle and her ability to stifle the nation’s most potent offenses.
